What You'll Do

As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with Easterseals NY, you’ll conduct psychiatric assessment and psychiatric medication management sessions with patients and monitor the progress of each patient throughout their course of treatment. You’ll also collaborate with licensed social workers who serve as primary therapists for patients.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Conducting psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
  • Conducting mental status examinations and pharmacological evaluations.
  • Prescribing medications, informing clients about side effects and monitoring response to prescribed medications, including ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Completing all documentation (i.e., progress notes and psychiatric assessments) as required in a timely manner in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Providing expedited services to clients based on risk assessment status as clinically indicated.
  • Providing crisis intervention services to clients as needed.
  • Communicating with other medical practitioners to coordinate treatment for clients.
  • Participating in staff meetings and case conferences.
  • Participating in on-call rotation.
  • Collaborating with primary therapists, clinical supervisor and program director to discuss status of client progress in treatment and provide input/guidance on treatment planning and risk management issues.

You're a great fit for this role if you have:

  • A current NY State RN license and NP in Psychiatry license.
  • Board certification as Psychiatric NP.
  • Eligibility for clearance through NYS Central Registry for Child Abuse and NYS Justice Center (Cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists.).
  • Enrolled as a Medicare provider (Must obtain and provide National Provider Identification (NPI) number.).
  • Knowledge about risk assessment and risk management issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation

$150 per hour, 8 hours per week, minimum
